Pablo Escobar and Drug impacts in Mexico
For my second project I wanted to learn more about Pablo Escobar and the impact the drug trade has on the world. I wanted to learn more about what it was like to live in Colombia when Pablo Escobar was trafficking his drugs. In addition, I wanted to see how the cartels affected the daily lives of people living in Mexico.
English
For English to show perspective I wrote a Persuasive essay from Pablo's point of view to the Colombian government persuading them to come to an agreement for Pablo to turn himself in peacefully. During Pablo's era of being known as "The King Of Cocaine" Colombia was a very violent place, the peaceful surrender of Pablo Escobar would have been a big deal for Colombia.
On December 2, 1993 Pablo Escobar was killed. That same day in 1993 Pablo was actually negotiating his surrender to the Colombian government. For my project I wrote a persuasive essay from the point of view of Pablo to the government going over his surrender terms, as if he were still able to negotiate with them. Some major topics I covered were, Pablo's cocaine business would be retired, Government officials would be safe, Pablo's business partners would turn themselves in, and the surrender of Pablo would be a big deal for the Colombian Government.
History
For my history portion I created two pieces from two different point of views. I created a letter coming from the perspective of a representative against the drug trades. Then, my other piece was a threating letter coming from the point of view of the Cartel to the representative who decided to speak out against the Cartels.

Letter from the Cartel |
For my history project I created a speech from the point of view of a representative who was going to stand up to the cartels. The representative wants to make Mexico a safer place to live. Not just for himself, but for the future generation of kids who will be growing up surrounded by the cartels. The cartel then responds to the representative with a letter of their own. Threatening him if he was to speak out against the cartels bad things would be coming his way. The cartels do not take lightly when somebody speaks of bringing them to justice.
