HistoryI connected my history project to the grounding of the 737 MAX by creating a mind map which showed how globalization and the grounding of the 737 were related.

On March 13, 2019 many news articles were written trying to predict the consequences that would stem from the grounding of Boeing's 737 MAX airplane. Little did anyone know at the time how many people and business's globally would be impacted by this one event, The economy was hit tremendously by the grounding of the 737 MAX. The GDP, or Gross Domestic Product, which measures the value of goods and services for the entire United States took a 0.5% hit. President Trump's goal for the economy to grow three to six percent would not be accomplished due to the grounding. In addition, Boeing was forced to reassign 3,000 people to other manufacturing plants due to the grounding. My news article goes in depth about all of the affects the grounding had on the world.
What is the global impact of air travel?
The global impact of air travel is its ability to connect people, countries, and cultures, providing access to global markets. Air travel connects developing countries to developed countries and serves as a means of inclusion for remote areas in which air travel is the only means of transportation. Air travel also allows people from other countries or states to attend college in far away places.
One great impact air travel has on the world is the speeding up of the traveling process. For example, a flight from L.A. to New York is a six hour flight. On the other hand, driving from L.A. to New York is a whopping 40 hour drive.
The Regulations for the aircrafts are going to be getting much more strict in the near future following the two crashes. “We are going to make it harder,” Patrick Ky, executive director of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, said
The positive impact that air travel has had on the economy is huge. The Caribbean region is heavily reliant on tourism for its economic health. For Cuba, Guyana, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Dominican Republic, more than 90 percent of tourists arrive by air.
The air transport industry supported a total of 62.7 million jobs globally. It provided 9.9 million direct jobs. Airlines, air navigation service providers, and airports directly employed over three million people.
Every day, around 100,000 flights transport over 10 million passengers and around 18 billion worth of goods
With positives there will always be negatives. The biggest negative impact of air travel is on the environment; although, the airline industry is trying to make a change in how much carbon is emitted from flying.
There are not many negative impacts of air travel on the economy. One of the negatives is the price of airline tickets. Ticket prices change all throughout the days. The prices may change according to the time of takeoff, day of the week, or the season of the year. The grounding hurt the airliner Norwegian the most. Their entire providence Rhode Island fleet is made up of 737 MAXs. As a result, Norwegian is providing a shuttle bus to and from New York. Therefore, the grounding has disrupted a lot of international flying from T.F. Green
